1893 QV 40pa provisional ovpt on ½d vermilion of GB. Group of 13 ideal for the specialist & further study. 5 are on piece with correct cds cancels for Constantinople & Stamboul but these cancellers are known to have been used after the genuine stamps were withdrawn. The ovpt was extensively forged as well so real care is needed. Damaged S varieties with postmarks of 25th Feb which therefore must be wrong x 4. 28 Feb dates with damages S. One fine m.m. but provenance unknown. Further mint example with ovpt inv forgery. One of the damaged S singles (not on pices) has 4 different small dealer marks on back!
