1901 (Oct) Four page printed document from De La Rue, headed "Confidential. Report upon Stamping of Documents", explaining how embossed stamps are currently applied to documents, advantages and disadvantages of embossed stamps, and of adhesive stamps cancelled by over embossing. The reverse page illustrates how escutcheons are affixed to a document before a stamp is applied over them, and bears a perforated 6d Imperium proof in purple and red with an illustration of over embossing applied over this. 1901 Piece cut from the De La Rue striking book bearing two KEVII head die proofs in an oval frame (see previous lot for a proof of the same head with uncleared surround) or a circular frame, both with a wreath design at the sides and crown above, both proofs printed in black on white glazed card, initialled, reduced to 30x22mm. The piece dated "Oct. 23" with the number of leads written alongside each proof, further endorsed in red ink "These electros inserted in the stamped papers working originals" and dated "Oct 26th 1901".
