The stamp inverted in relation to the envelope and with margins all round. Initialled EDW (= Wight). Backstamped Demerara MY 10 1856 and London arrival of 5 JU. RPS Certificate (1991). SG 24, £25000 Few covers with this stamp are known, perhaps five or six. Just two are to overseas destinations, and only this one from a village. The adhesive paid the local postage to Demerara, the bold '6' on the front of the envelope indicating the packet rate, due from the addressee (Image)

image 1934-51 3ct scarlet perf 12½ corner block of eight, unmounted o.g., the second stamp in the upper row showing defective Crown in watermark. Ex Graham Cooper. SG 290 var. A very rare error in its own right, and quite dramatic, with the great majority of the Crown omitted, leaving just the small oval at the base of the Crown. This and the subsequent lot are the only examples of this error we have seen. It should be noted that SG sold a sheet with a Crown wholly omitted in 2011, the error occurring on R1/8, so there is likely a connection, with the defective Crown perhaps being an early state. It should be noted that the row on which such errors occur will not be constant, but the column will be (Image)
