image 1911/1925, POST OFFICE PICTORIAL LETTERCARDS (BW LC1 - LC57): comprehensive collection with 124 used, mostly different lettercards, comprising an attractive array of different views along with substantial thematic content, i.a. animals, agriculture, trees, mining, caves, railway, bridges, buildings, waterfalls etc. Included are the issues KGV 'Full Face', Roo & KGV 'Side Face' in various denominations, colours, perforations and sorts of papers used for printing.
A predominant part of the lettercards were used domestically, some were uprated and mailed to foreign destinations. Also included are uprated examples due to increasing domestic postal rates. A remarkable proportion of lettercards were sent from smaller places; hence a premium for scarce postmarks should be assumed. Some examples for valuable lettercards included are LC1 (102A) "Pineapples Q.", LC51 (15C) "Botanic Gardens Portland Vic." & LC57 (57B) "Government House Sydney N.S.W." In general, there are basically no lettercards valued less than 50 dollars in the ACSC catalogue. Some items with blemishes / traces of usage as should be considered, otherwise mostly F/VF condition.
