image 1919 (Nov 12) England-Australia with Ross Smith vignette applied on arrival tied 'FIRST AERIAL MAIL/RECEIVED/ 26FEB1920/GREAT BRITAIN TO AUSTRALIA' oval d/s with another strike alongside AAMC #27, Cat $5250. The cover is tired and tatty, the label has been lifted and re-attached but appears to be complete & fine. Addressed to Dr CN Simmons 'Clifton' Darling Downs (Qld), listed by Tom Frommer in 'The Ross Smith Stamp & Its Postal History' as cover #290. Martin Eichele Certificate (2011).

image 1920 (July 30) Melbourne-Traralgon flight AAMC #47 with a superb example of the violet/yellow 'HERALD/AERIAL/ DELIVERY' label tied to the face by 'HERALD & WEEKLY TIMES' "clock" cds and KGV 1½d black-brown tied by 'TRARALGON/VIC' arrival cds, Cat $2000 (2009). Most examples seen have faults such as tonespots, surface adhesions etc. Most are also franked with Victorian stamps, this being one of the relatively few correctly rated with the KGV 1½d stamp.

image 1932 Bridge 3d blue + KSmith 2d red x2 tied to flight-endorsed cover to Germany by Brisbane cds of 19MR32 (FDI for the Bridge set) and United States 15c Air tied by a different Brisbane cds of 28MR32, superb 'FERRY STATION' b/s in purple applied at San Francisco & German 'Mit Luftpost/befordert/Postamt 1 Hannover' cachet in rosine on the face. [Prepayment of US internal airmail fees had been permitted since 1924 but was discontinued by this time. It appears that the GPO clerk cancelled the Australian stamps but referred the cover to a supervisor who, 9 days later, gave approval for the US stamp to be cancelled. The Ferry Station h/s indicates carriage across San Francisco Bay to the airport at Oakland]
