image 1 Aug.1930 Amsterdam to Hamburg flown cover headed "Southern Cross Herdenking" [Commemoration], signed by Charles Kingsford Smith and carried by him on a commercial flight following his trans-Atlantic flight in June 1930. Kingsford Smith had been staying with Anthony Fokker while recuperating from an illness before returning to Australia. [35 covers thus carried.] The "Southern Cross", a Fokker F.VIIb/3m trimotor monoplane, was the aeroplane most closely associated with Kingsford Smith's career. (Image)

The study comprises of a normal sheetlet, a sheetlet with the pale blue dramatically misplaced downwards, a sheetlet with the red-brown dramatically misplaced downwards, a sheetlet with the pale blue (sky) completely omitted, a sheetlet with a strong offset of one unit (red-brown printing) and a sheetlet with a strong offset of three units (red-brown) and the pale-blue misplaced to the left.
