1934 MAC ROBERTSON AIR RACE: Superb collection of covers & ephemera relating to the famous race from Mildenhall, Suffolk to Melbourne, Australia. Comprises signed covers flown in the race inc. 3 of the 100 carried by the eventual winners, Charles Scott & Tom Campbell-Black. Also a number of covers carried by the KLM entry "Uiver" and the American entry Roscoe Turner. In total the collection holds c.25 Race flown covers and a further c.20 covers flown on return flights, onward flights and the subsequent final flight of the "Uiver" (crashed in Syria 1935). Also, photographs of most entries, newspaper cuttings and a photocopy of the Royal Aero Club's Official Programme showing the signatures of all the participants (useful for comparisons).
