image 1840-1951 USED (MOSTLY) COLLECTION: Two albums, first with 2 unplated 1d blacks (both with faults), range of c.28 1d red imperfs inc. 9 x number in MX types, range of 1d red 'stars', 2d blues (7) plates 7-15, all fine, ½d 'bantams' all plates except 9, plate ranges of 1873-80 2½d rose & 2½d blue plus 1867-83 3d rose plates (4-21) and other surface printed ranges to 1/- with individual plates identified. MULREADY, GADSBY 'FREE TRADE' ENV, 1841 1d REDS, ETC: Early to middle period, mostly GB group inc. 14 Dec. 1840 1d Mulready letter sheet (A30) with Edinburgh Life Assurance Co. advertising on reverse, sent from Manchester to Lancaster cancelled by superb MX. Attractive, but with small tear on back flap; 2 Jan. 1845 'Free Trade' illustrated env. printed by J. Gadsby, Manchester, sent from Manchester to Lancaster. Sadly, stamp removed and pinholes in lower right corner, but a scarce cover. Lot includes qty. of other QV printed envs./cards, 1934 'Tin Can Mail' env., Dec. 1937 Imperial Airways 'Cygnus' crash mail cover, 3 Aug. 1939 Imp. Airways 'Caribou' First Flight cover London to Canada, etc Also a group of c.20 x 1841 imperf. 1d reds and very fine advertising sheet of North Eastern Railway for a 4 July 1903 Excursion from Bradford to Knaresborough.
