image RARE "BIRSAY" UDC IN BLUE ON "PER STEAMER'S MAIL" 1d RED COVER TO EDINBURGH; 22 Dec. 1855 env. with rare blue "BIRSAY" UDC on side-flap (opened up for display) overlapped by light green "KIRKWALL" cds, sent to Edinburgh but unusually endorsed "Per Steamer's Mail on 24 Decr. 1855" with 1d Red 'Stars' (filing fold; off-centre) tied in transit by Kirkwall "207" Numeral. C.R.N.]/KING'S HARBOUR MASTER/KIRKWALL." alongside; plus 3 July 1917 env. (minor wear) unusually sent locally with KGV 1d tied by v. fine 2-ring "KIRKWALL" cds and having a mainly very fine purple double-oval "CENSORED/ORKNEY R.G.A."
