image VERY RARE PRIVILEGE INSTRUCTIONAL MARKING; 5 Apr. 1812 E (rear flap fault) to York endorsed 'Free' at lower left and signed at base with s/l "LIMERICK" and v.rare and mostly v.fine "ABOVE NUMBER/PRIVILEGED" h.s. applied sideways at left enroute at Dublin - only one other example (same date) recorded by Galland & Croft (2014) at page 40 with matched Inspectors Crown alongside and rated '5/-' on front. Crown Free datestamps of Dublin and London on front and a postal charge at extreme right also deleted. image ORNATE RED CROWNED "IMPROPERLY PUT UNDER COVER TO EVADE/ POSTAGE/TO BE CHARGED" MARK; c1826 front to Shercock 'from London' with a faint strike of the "CARRICKMACROSS/PENNY POST" h.s. uncommon thus and fair strike of the fancy "(Crown)/IMPROPERLY PUT UNDER COVER TO EVADE POSTAGE TO BE CHARGED" mark in red. Rated a total of '1/4'd on front as a result and probably found enclosed in another article or newspaper. Central filing crease though an extremely rare marking. Spectacular example of abuse of privilege.
