1840 "Penny Black" 1d black Plate 1A SG 2 [A-F], good to large margins with a fragment of the adjoining unit below, a couple of absotuely trivial tonespots on the reverse, unused, Cat £12,500. A beautiful example of the World's First Postage Stamp. PTS Expertising Certificate (2021) states "some toning at top", which we consider is harsh.
1840 "Penny Black" 1d intense black SG 1 block of 4 [QG-QH/RG-RH], margins good to large except at left where the upper unit is just shaved at the top & the lower unit is a little cut-into at the top, untidy but light Maltese Cross cancels in red, SG Spec Cat £18,000 for a block of 4. A rare multiple.
1929 Postal Union Congress £1 black SG 438 marginal example from the U/L corner of the sheet, exceptional centring, a few split perfs in the margin (which is mounted), the stamp is unmounted, Gibbons Specialised Cat £1100.
