1879 (Sep 16) Cover posted from London to Bristol with enclosed letter from the balloonist Joseph Simmons, "Woolwich, Tuesday 1.30, My dear Elise. The accent is not to take place tomorrow as the garrison is out, therefore we cannot get the soldiers and it is indefinitely postponed, yours Joe", with a short newspaper article about the proposed demonstration of Simmons balloon to the War Office at the Royal Arsenal. Also an 1874 cutting about the death of a Mr De Groof who died after falling from Simmons balloon, and a photocopy of an 1888 magazine recording Simmons death in a balloon accident.

image 1903 (Aug 29) Lifeboat Saturday Balloon Post, picture postcard depicting a balloon flying over cliffs, headed "Balloon Post" and "From the Clouds, 29th August 1903", actually flown on September 5th from Alexandra Palace in north London to Ongar. 3,200 Postcards were dropped at 16 points en route, this card from the final card drop over Ongar, posted from Ongar on September 21st unusually addressed to France franked 1d. A fine and rare card, signed on the front by the finder. Photo on Page 56. (Image1)

image 1905 (July 12) Beckenham Flower Show picture postcard with the printed message "Despatched from the Clouds by Balloon Post, from the Beckenham Flower Show, Wed., July 12, 1905", addressed to Germany, a KEVII 1d cancelled at Gravesend (July 12), Preetz arrival c.d.s (July 14),. The balloon flew from Beckenham to Romford; cards were dropped at Chislehurst and Gravesend. A fine and rare card, almost certainly unique to an overseas address, ex Peter Jennings collection. 1907 (Oct 12) Daily Graphic Balloon postcard headed "A Message from Mid-Air", flown from Crystal Palace to Mellerud in Sweden where the balloon crashed landed depositing the aeronauts on the ground with many of the cards; the balloon then took off again flying a further 30 miles unmanned to Tosse where it landed with the remaining cards. The card franked by a KEVII 1d (corner fault) cancelled in manuscript and tied by the "TOSSE" c.d.s, handstamped "T" and charged 1d, minor staining on the picture side but very unusual with a G.B stamp.

image 1932 Parcel tag originally attached to a balloon, with the printed message "This Balloon was sent off at S. BENET'S GARDEN FETE (in aid of Church Funds) On September 10th, 1932" with details of the sender (Master Peter Cameron, London, N.W.5) and finder (Achiel Allein, Cultivateur a Reninghe, Belgique, on September 13th 1932), the reverse with printed address of S. Benet's Vicarage in Kentish Town, London, N.W.5. Franked by a G.B 1d tied by Boesinghe c.d.s, delivered without charge, probably a unique survivor from this charity balloon flight. Photo on Page 56.
