TAHITI, 1937 "Post Office Bay, Galapagos" TO POLAND VIA TAHITI, Remarkable cover originating in the Galapagos Islands with "Post Office Bay, Galapagos" double-circle handstamp (measuring 35mm), sent via Tahiti with manuscript "Taken from Post Office Bay to Tahiti by the American Schooner Yankee" on reverse, whereby French Oceania 65c and 85c on 1fr stamps were applied and tied by "Visitez Tahiti Perle du Pacificque" and Papeete Feb. 19, 1937 datestamp, additional strike at top right, on cover to Kielce, Poland, carried aboard the "Dar Pomorza" during its around the world journey with violet cachet and imprint design on backflap, Very Fine, this is the sole recorded example of this Galapagos strike (later examples measure 31mm) and of the approx. 100 covers carried by Dar Pomorza", this is the only one from the South Pacific (Image)
