image 1907, SALVAGED MAIL: 25 C black & red on rose 'allegory', single franking on cover from Porto-Novo, 20.FEVR.07, to Zürich in Switzerland, on the frontside violet handstamp "SALVED FROM S.S. JEBBA", transit cds Lagos and arrival mark (21.III.07) on reverse.
Steamship S.S. JEBBA ran aground near the british coast of Devon, while inbound from West Africa to Plymouth and Liverpool, crew, passengers and cargo incl. mail had been salvaged.
