NEW CALEDONIA: 1898 commercial cover to "Messrs Lever Bros/Sunlight Works/Sydney" with NSW Arms 1d tied by one of two very fine strikes of 'NOUVELLE CALEDONIE/20/MARS/98/NOUMEA' cds, small 'T'-in-inverted-triangle but no postage due collected at Sydney (arrival b/s of MR26/98). A very scarce cover. [Lever Bros/Unilever's own website states they began making soap at Balmain in 1899. We think they might be out by about 2 years]
