1764-75 Entire letters posted within London, both to the Foundling Hospital, with fine "Dockwra" type Penny Post handstamps of Hermitage or St. Pauls. The 1764 letter concerns the girl Grace, who went out at 8a.m not returning until 11p.m in a nearly naked state; the writer is mistrustful of her running away again. The 1775 letter reports that Mrs Belcher, a lady quilter of White Gate Alley, Bishopgate St., has agreed to take in Lucretia Joy. (2).
