THE EXTREMELY RARE TADCASTER DISTINCTIVE MALTESE CROSS ON YORKSHIRE COVER - 7 September 1842 EL (some splitting to the flaps) datelined Boston [Spa, Yorks.] to Bradford franked with fine 1d red imperf, DB plate 20 with four margins, and tied by a superb strike of this Cross that is known on only one other cover (a 1d pink dated April 1843; eight off-cover examples are also known, of which five are 'locked-away' in the Phillips collection). Illustrated in Rockoff & Jackson at page 268; listed but unpriced in SG specialised.
