1859 folded letter wrapper franked crown & Flowers 1/- reddish mauve with blue grid pmk, & red 'Chatham N.B. 19 SP 1859 Paid' at left, sent to Danzig(!) then in Prussia, now Gdansk in Poland, with all appropriate rate markings on front inc 'England per Aachen Franco 4 10 B', transit & arrival pmks front & back. (Unfortunately some idiot had tried to tear off the original stamp, so only about 1/3 remains. For display purposes another has been hinged over the remains, this stamp is in excellent fresh condition with bright colour). SG 5 cat £4500 as loose stamp & 'from x3' on cover. Probably unique & fantastic usage, that would have been a $30,000+ item. Still superb appearance & desirable item for specialist. (P) (Image1)
