1920 (April 10) cover to Ballarat with KGV 1½d brown tied by superb Melbourne Krag machine cancel, ripped open at right & resealed with stamp selvedge from a sheet of KGV Rough Paper 1d red, very fine strikes front & back of the very rare 'Opened by/Burglars/P.O. Ballarat' handstamp. An outstanding example of Interrupted Mail. Ex Kevin Nelson: sold at the Prestige auction of 27.11.2010 for $5825. Illustrated in 'Australian Philatelist' (Spring 1989): a copy of the article is included. [It is believed that only one other cover from this incident has been recorded]

1940 (Dec 19) commercial cover to GB endorsed for air to the USA per Clipper only then by surface at 3/11d rate. [The rate was the same as to Canada, & 1d less than to the USA. The structure was Empire surface rate of 2d + 3/9d air surcharge. The all-up air rate to GB was 5/10d]
1941 OAS airmail cover endorsed from "LJ Golding A/B" with fine red boxed 'PASSED BY CENSOR/[initialled]/ DATE: ("26.6.41")' h/s on the face, to NSW with Sydney civil censor label & cachet at left, minor blemishes; plus 1940 cover to same addressee with italicised 'On Active Service' h/s in red and 'VICTORIA/19MY/40/HONG KONG' cds alongside with same 'PASSED ...' cachet on reverse, minor faults. [A similar 1940 item from the same correspondence sold for HK$2990 in June 2018.
Able Seaman Leslie John Golding was with the Royal Australian Navy. He served aboard the Armed Merchant Cruiser HMAS 'Kanimbla' which, in April 1940, commandeered one Danish & ten Norwegian ships at the mouth of the Yangtse River and escorted them to Hong Kong. In January 1942 he was transferred to HMAS 'Perth' which was sunk in the Battle of Sunda Strait on 1.3.1942 and he was amongst the 307 survivors who were taken Prisoner of War.
1946-56 BCOF/Korea covers to Australia noted 1946 with 'No8 AUST BASE PO/C' cds used at Kure x2 one additionally with Indian 'FPO/No. 652' d/s, 1948 airmail with 6d Kookaburra 'BCOF/JAPAN' overprint tied 'AUST UNIT POSTAL STN/453' cds and 'UPS/453' registration h/s used at Eta Jima, another with BCOF KGVI 3d tied 'A.F.P.O. 28./R.A.A.F.-JAPAN' cds and blue 'AFPO/BOFU' R label, two with BCOF ½d Kangaroo blocks of 6 or 8, also unfranked with 'RAFPOST/JAPAN' cds, a couple with Japanese stamps added (not valid but tied 'AUST ARMY PO/214' used at Empire House, Tokyo), 1950 with 'CERTIFIED OFFICIAL/BCOF POSTAL UNIT' cachet, 1953 airmail from 'No 8 AUST BASE PO/A' at Kure with 'BAPO/5' registration h/s, range of covers from British Field POs with either Australian or British adhesives & cds including British 'FPO/158', '.../790' x5 (one registered with GB QEII 9d and blue R label with '790' h/s), '.../948' x3 and '.../949', some with return addresses, one endorsed "UNKRA" [= United Nations Korean Reconstruction Agency], etc, condition variable.
