Duplicated accumulation in large bulging Hagner album including Fish to 50c blocks of 4, setenant strips & M/Ss, unmounted, then six pages of used decimals including some cancelled on the island, FDCs & some philatelically inspired covers posted on the island.
POSTAL HISTORY: 1966 (Sept 7) airmail to Australia with Pictorials 50c Frigate Bird solo tied by 'CHRISTMAS ISLAND/INDIAN/OCEAN' cds, very light fold at right not affecting stamp. Scarce apparently commercial usage of a higer-value from this issue. At this time the local currency was the Malayan Dollar, and the postage rates did not conform to those of Australia until 6.5.1968 when the Australian Dollar was adopted as the local currency.
