image 1839 Toronto 6 MY double circle despatch on folded Trans-Atlantic letter to London, with boxed ‘PAID’ handstamp and ms rated ‘4½’, the SPECIAL RATE BY BOAT ACROSS LAKE ONTARIO to Queenston (overland would have needed 7d, 2d ferriage was discontinued in 1837), ‘+ 25’ (¢ US) to NY (red 11 MY receiver on front), LIVERPOOL SHIPLETTER on back and rated ms ‘1/7’ as incoming ship letter, London 11 JU receiver, some toning at left edge, otherwise fine and a RARE REDUCED RATE COVER.
