1859 Large double weight stampless envelope from Harriston 2 JY to Guelph, showing the confusion relating to the recent currency changeover, mistakenly rated in pence with red ms ‘Paid 6’ (2x the old 3d rate), noticed on arrival at Guelph but PM assumed it meant 6¢, allowing no credit (even for the alleged 6¢) & marked ‘More to pay 10’ (¢) to be collected from the addressee (the correct unpaid rate should have been 14¢), slight reduction at right, otherwise a fine and a choice rate cover, ex Harrison.
