image LES DARCY v EDDIE McGOORTY: 1915 left half of boxing-glove shaped promotional flyer for World's Middleweight Championship (Australian version) fight at Baker's Stadium Sydney. Won by Darcy by tko in 15 rounds. McGoorty stated "That boy's the best fighter I ever fought. He's the greatest fighter in the world". {Darcy became embroiled in the politics of conscription during the First World War, and left Australia for the United States to avoid the aggravation. He died on 24 May 1917 (aged 21) from septicaemia, and his embalmed body was returned to Australia, where an estimated half-million people paid their respects}. (Image1)

[One of the most tragic events in boxing history. In the fourteenth round, Mancini dropped Kim with two punches and the referee declared Mancini the winner by TKO.
