image Extensive and Predominantly Mint 1949-1964 Collection A valuable lot, earlier sets are mainly reprints but then shows a high degree of completion from 1955 to early 1960s (only one souvenir sheet is shown) mint NH or ungummed as issued. All in black mounts on blank pages in a Chinese binder and in a one book-style album. Noted a few dulled or disturbed gum on some but overall with fresh colours and mostly sound and F-VF throughout. Numerous better items to be found such as 1958 8f souvenir sheet of one, 1960 Goldfish set of 12, 1960-1961 Chrysanthemums set of 18, 1961 40th Anniversary of Chinese Communist Party set of 5, 1962 4f-50f Mei Lan-fang set of 8 all with full pristine NH gum (ex 22f disturbed gum), also additional 4f, 10f, 20f, 22f, 30f and 50f values with minor flaws, 1963 Butterflies set of 20, 1963 Cuban Revolution set of 6, 1963 Landscapes set of 16, etc. A great lot ideal for further expansion, high catalogue value. image 1884 (December 31) Cover mailed registered from Kobe to Halifax, Canada via Yokohama, San Francisco, Boston and St. John, NB, endorsed in manuscript "Per American Mail", bearing an impressive mixed-issue franking consisting of Cherry Blossom 15s lilac, Syllabic 3 (light crease, sheet margin at foot) and Koban 1s green, 4s blue green and 5s ultramarine, all tied by segmented "K" cork cancels, octagonal Registered Kobe datestamp further ties 1s stamp, two different registry handstamps and Registered Yokohama JAN 4 1885 transit CDS in purple; on reverse San Francisco JAN 17, Boston JAN 26, St. John, NB JA 27 and Halifax JA 28 85 arrival backstamps; light soiling and some negligible perf toning in no way detract.
