1880's-1920 Russian Post in Mongolia: 17 Russian stamps used in Urga and bearing various types of Russian Urga datestamps, starting with the early oval "URGA" + post horn datestamp (1880's-1894) on three stamps, followed by the rare single circle datestamp (in use 1895-1909) on four stamps, and later double circle datestamps (various types). A scarce group.

1927, red-band cover from Ulan Bator to Manchuria on the northern route via Kichta (Mongolian-Russian border), franked on back by 1926 5m., 20m. and 50m. all tied by "ULANBATOR MONGOLIA/22 I 27" double-ring datestamp, and on front with two Chinese 1926 'Junk' 4c. olive tied by bilingual Manchuria cds.
