Japanese Occupation of Cambodia 1941: Group of four picture postcards with Airmail to Japan, despatched between October 10 and November 30, Showa 16 (1941), written from the 'Expeditionnairy Corps of French Indochina / Section M. Nakajima / Group 3804" and directed to Saitama nearby Tokyo, franked with 1937 definitive issue 5 s. blue & 10 s. red (Gi 318+322), tied by FPO cds, framed Control handstamp in violet and censorship cachet 'Sato' in red alongside. The only four known cards from Cambodia, French translation for one card included.rnNote: In August 1941 a Japanese garrison of 8'000 servicemen occupied the French protectorate of Cambodia. 1920 (July 30th to August 7th): Picture Postcard 'Scouts Thanksgiving Service Olympia, London 1920' with yellow special label 'I am off to the Boy Scout Jamboree' on picture side with portrait of Toyomatsu Shimoda the representative Commissioner of Japan and signed by his own hand, together with Japan 1 s. stationery card showing Japan's special Scout cancel. Fine.rnOwing to difficulties of transport it was not possible for Japan to send a party of Scouts to England, but they delegated Mr. Koshiba and Mr. Shimoda as their official representatives. After returning from the Jamboree, he established the Nihon Kenjidan ("Japan Stalwart Youth Troop") in 1921 and worked as Japan's first Chief Scout. (Image 1)(Image)

Kobe transit (Nov 10) and thence carried by "Calédonien" with octagonal "LIGNE N" Paquebot datestamp in black (Nov 11). American Post Office in Yokohama, Japan 1871/74: The remarkable pair of covers to France on Exhibit page: 1871 mourning envelope endorsed "par Overland Mail via San Francisco & New York" franked by 1870/71 National Banknote Co. 2 c. red-brown (2) and single 10 c. brown tied in black with "YOKOHAMA" datestamp (Sept) alongside. Carried at 10 c. Steamship rate plus 4 c. as far as Great Britain with NEW YORK transit in red (Oct 17) and reverse with Vertaison arrival (Oct 30) and charged '5' décimes due on delivery. Second cover ex the 'Henon' correspondence dated 14 Aug 1874 from IKUNO to France with 1873 Continental Banknote Co. 10 c. brown horizontal pair tied by segmented cork handstamp with "YOKOHAMA / JAPAN" cds (Sept) alongside, carried on the Steamer "Colorado" to SAN FRANCISCO with transit cds (Oct 4), NEW YORK / PAID cds (Oct 13) in red and Calais entry marking (Oct 25).
