image image China, Captivating Mostly Late Period Postal History Compilation, approximately 125 items in total, all but a handful from the late 1930s through the end of the Republic, offering a jaw-dropping array of frankings, rates, uses, etc.; a few earlier items including a CIP Coiling Dragon single franking, plus a number of Junks issues (including several postal cards), but the real stars of this holding are the inflation, CNC, Gold and Silver covers, often needing both sides of the envelope to hold all the stamps; note a couple First Flight cachets, a #988 First Day Cover, a $1,600,000 Sun Yat-sen franking from Shanghai postmarked May 16, 1949 (two weeks before the city's fall on June 2), a 5c Manchuria-overprinted Junk on red band cover, Printed Matter, Airmail, Registered and Express uses (some in combination), appealing auxiliary markings, etc., etc.; usual travel wear, but many still fresh and all a magnificent lot to make the postal historian salivate, with many nice sleepers, Fine to Very Fine with better throughout, fully imaged online and well worth the time to view.
