Kevin Nelson's 8-frame International Gold Medal exhibit 'Australian Commonwealth Postal Rates 1901-1941' spiral-bound colour photocopies of one of the most important Australian Postal History collections ever formed. Only four copies were made.
Box of Morisset (NSW) Mental Hospital mail mostly with KGV Heads punctured 'OS/NSW', the majority unclaimed with a plethora of markings including DLOs, principally domestic but includes items returned from England, Wales, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and even Norway (a very scarce destination, with Kangaroos 1d & 2d), also some 'RETURNED LETTER' Envelopes with their contents, rather mixed condition. Never before on the market & almost certainly unpicked for varieties.

1918 (Dec 24; Christmas Eve) usage of Metters Limited advertising envelope with an illustration of a freestanding stove on the face, to New York with three-colour franking of KGV Heads ½d green 1d red & 1½d black-brown tied by Sydney machine roller cancel paying the 2½d per ½oz foreign letter rate plus ½d War Tax (introduced on 28.10.1918), minor blemishes. A most attractive item.
1919 (May 30) Government Tourist Bureau, Hobart illustrated cover with a vignette view of the building at the corner of Macquarie & Murray Streets with an automobile and horse-drawn coaches outside, sent to Queensland with KGV 1½d black-brown tied Hobart 'HELP REPATRIATION/BUY WAR SAVINGS CERTIFICATES' machine roller cancel, a couple of minor wrinkles & blemishes.
1921 (March 15) to Switzerland with KGV 2d orange only tied by 'CANTERBURY/VICTORIA' cds, oval 'T' cachet and scarce 'T/80c' h/s of Melbourne, Swiss Postage Dues 20c x4 tied to face by 'ACACIAS/18IV21/(GENEVE)' cds, a few minor blemishes. [Richard Breckon states the foreign letter rate was increased on 1.10.1920 from 2½d per ½oz + ½d War Tax to 4d for the first oz plus 2d for each additional oz, which fits in that the item was 4d underpaid for the second weight-step. However the ACSC states that the 4d rate was introduced 1.1.1922. If the old rate still applied, a second weight-step letter would have been rated 2½d per ½oz x2 + ½d War Tax = 5½d, not the 6d at which this was assessed. Perhaps the 2½d rate + ½d War Tax was varied to 3d per ½oz on 1.10.1920, the 4d + 2d rate commencing 1.1.1922? Check your covers for this period]
1922 (May 4) registered to Canada with KGV 1d violet & 4d violet tied 'WAGGA WAGGA' framed cds with red R label alongside, four different Canadian TPO b/s including 'TORONTO & OWEN SOUND RPO' and 'ORANGEVILLE & TEESWATER RPO', a few blemishes clear of the stamps. [The rate was Empire letter 2d per 1oz + 3d registration fee; the 1d violet was issued in February 1922 and the colour of the 4d was changed from violet to blue from March 1922 to avoid the obvious confusion evidenced here]
1926 (Aug 21) cover to Adelaide with KGV 1½d red tied by 'PT LINCOLN/SA' cds with very fine complete strike of 'POSTED IN LATE FEE BAG' single-line h/s on face endorsed "1d T" for the unpaid late fee, Postage Due Perf 14 1d affixed alongside tied 'GPO ADELAIDE' cds, oval 'REGISTRAR OF MOTOR VEHICLES ADELAIDE/RECEIVED' private cachet in violet, a couple of minor blemishes. As far as we are aware Port Lincoln did not have a Late Fee Bag into which this could have been posted; we suspect that the item was carried by ship to Adelaide and this h/s was used out of convenience to indicate that a Late Fee was payable.
