£1 grey John Ash Imprint block of 4 with Retouched Lower Frames [L60 & R55] ACSC 54z, minor bends at L/L that intrude on the third unit which also has a tonespot, the upper units very lightly mounted, the lower units are unmounted, Cat $17,500+ for mounted. Rare.
The ACSC states "there are probably not more than a dozen imprint blocks of 4". We have located different blocks of 4 in the collections of Kevin Nelson, Arthur Gray, Barry Gribble, Julian Sterling and the Spink sale of 7.3.2018, plus this example. That makes six. Of course, others will be in current collections, but we are confident the £1 imprint block is scarcer than its more highly regarded £2 sibling.
