1d red stockbook collection with an array of shades & dated examples, then hundreds of annotated listed & unlisted varieties with Smooth Paper including both Pre-Substituted Clichés (both cancelled well clear of the rust-damage), both Substituted Clichés and Thin 'G' x4, and Rough Paper including both Substituted Clichés and Thin 'G', etc, condition variable but generally fine to very fine. A good lot for the specialist.

Imperforate Plate Proof on thin white glazed card 1d carmine-rose ACSC 70PP(2)C marginal block of 4 from the right-hand side of the plate, small hinge remainder otherwise very fine without any of the usual creases or blemishes, Cat $1900+.
Smooth Paper 1d aniline scarlet-red with Colour Flaw outside R/H Frame level with Emu's Neck late state with Additional Rust Flaw to R of the R/H Value Tablet ACSC 71J(2)na, light cds cancel well clear of both varieties, Cat $2750. Superb. Scott Starling Certificate (2018) also states "Thin Paper <0.07mm"]
Smooth Paper 1d carmine-red Plate 3 'JBC' Monogram strip of 3 ACSC 71(3)zd with variety Deformed Shading in Oval over 'E' of 'POSTAGE' [VI/59] in a marginal horizontal strip of 6 with the side margins re-joined, the central four units including the Monogram stamp are unmounted, Cat $1590+.
Rough Paper 1d orange-brown punctured 'OS' as always ACSC 72S, neat Melbourne cds, Cat $7500. The rarest of all the recognised Penny Red shades. Scott Starling Certificate (2021). A superb & very attractive stamp that is visually superior to the very fine example with light machine cancel that sold at our auction of 23.12.2021 for $4550.
Rough Paper 1d pale damson with Die II Substituted Cliché (Early State) ACSC 723K(2)ja, bold machine cancel just clear of the break in the upper frame at right, Cat $1500. Superb. Scott Starling Certificate (2018) states "...a very rare shade/variety combination".

2d orange with the Watermark Inverted punctured 'OS' ACSC 95aba block of 4 fine used with 'FLINDERS NAVAL DEPOT/15JE22/VIC', the U/L unit with one pulled perf at top, Cat $400+. A very scarce used multiple.
2d red ACSC 96C Electro 11 with unlisted Weak R/H Frame behind Emu [Pos 11R29], well centred, superb cds well clear of the variety. Superb. Scott Starling Certificate (2021). [Considering some of the flyspeck varieties that are listed, this 'visible to the naked eye' variety is certainly deserving of being listed in the ACSC]
2d red Electro 16 with Missing R/H Frame behind Emu ACSC 96C(16)L (Early State) and horizontal marginal watermark line at the base, very well centred, light machine cancel just impinges on the variety, Cat $3500. Superb. Scott Starling Certificate (2021). [The ACSC states "...extremely rare in red"]
2d scarlet with the Watermark Inverted punctured 'OS' ACSC 96a horizontal pair, a couple of small perf faults at the base, indistinct cds, Cat $750+, for singles. A rare multiple.
2d brown with the Watermark Inverted ACSC 97a (SG 78w), Melbourne cds of 9MY24, Cat $35,000 (£24,000). Superb & a great rarity of the Georgian Series. [The ACSC states that only one example has been recorded, cancelled at Melbourne '10JE20' [sic] which is an impossible date for a stamp issued in 1924. That stamp is Ex Arthur Gray. It was sold at our auction of 30.10.2015 - where it was correctly identified as being dated '10JE26' - for $38,685]** CORRECTION: the postmark on this stamp is dated 19MY26 **
4d yellow-orange Plate 2 'JBC' Monogram pair ACSC #110B(2)z with Pimple on Diagonal of L/H '4' ACSC 110(2)o, faint 'suntanning' on the gum & the first unit with a tiny natural paper-flaw, lightly mounted, Cat $1500. Ex 'Anglo-Saxon': sold at our auction of 16.8.2008 for $610.
4d orange Plate 2 with the Watermark Inverted 'JBC' Monogram corner pair ACSC 110(2)z in a strip of three with variety White Spot on Diagonal of Left '4', a couple of light spots & minor perf separation at U/L, unmounted, Cat $3400+ for mounted (see footnote 6).
4d dull ultramarine Plate 2 with 'False Ear' Cracked Electro (Between King's Ear & Eye) ACSC 112(2)ma, well centred, a few short perfs, light 'TURRAMURRA/21AU23/[NSW]' cds clear of the variety, Cat $2250. Scott Starling Certificate (2021) states "...a very rare variety". [The ACSC states "...three mint & at least eight used examples have been reported". An example with machine cancel sold at our online auction of 10.10.2020 for $525]
