1887 (17 Mar) envelope from Middleburg to Berlin, bearing 1885 Vurtheim 1d and 3d (6) cancelled by '12' in concentric rings, showing 'T' h/stamp with blue crayon '210' (deleted) and '240,' the reverse with despatch Cape Town (22.3) and arrival (13.4) d/stamps. Note - The rate was 9½d per half ounce, but it was a triple weight letter with only the double rate of 19d paid. It was taxed on arrival initially at 210 pfennig (27d) then corrected to 240 pfennig (30d), both of which were incorrect. Double the actual deficiency would have been 19d. (Image)
