image LERWICK - RARE PRE-1800 CONVEX 1st-TYPE "LERWICK" ON TRIPLE-RATE COVER; 21 Sept. 1797 EL (not a complete letter) to Edinburgh charged "2/3" (triple 9d rate) with a mainly very fine black convex "LERWICK" (filing fold) on the flap near to a slightly blurred (18 Oct.?) red Edinburgh arrival Bishop Mark. Very few pre-1800 Shetland markings have been recorded and this triple 9d rate is exceptional. (Image)

Plus a 16 Mar. 1804 EL from "Lerwick" charged "11[d]" to Edinburgh with a parly fine scarce 2nd-Type convex "LERWICK" (EKD) on the flap.
