image A RARE TWO PENCE ENVELOPE WITH MALTESE CROSS CANCELLATION: 1843 (19 Oct) 2d deep blue env. used from Lynn to Downham with a crisp Maltese Cross cancellation and v. fine "LYNN" c.d.s. Slightly toned and some minor faults but he overall quality is fine. A rarity of the highest order. Note Dr. A. K. Huggins in British Postal Stationery (1970 edition) states"used examples of this envelope exceed in rarity those of its Mulready counterpart, and early examples with Maltese Cross cancellation are very scarce indeed".
