1927 DE PINEDO: 60c. black with red "Air Mail/DE PINEDO/1927" overprint (Pos. 22 of sheet 6 as per Harmer's notation), used on printed Harold Mitchell cover & contents from St. John's to Scotland via Italy, tied by "ST. JOHN'S, N'FLD./MAY 20/10-AM/1927" machine datestamp, with circled "TREPASSEY NEWF'D/MY 21/27" transit datestamp on front, and Rome '22.VI.1927' slogan d/s on the reverse. The letter reads '... the Italian air ship leaving in a day or two is taking 30 (pounds) mail matter...'. The stamp has been used with few white paper fibres on left, fine. The cover opened bit roughly at top otherwise fine. A VERY SCARCE DO-X COVER WITH THE MUNICH CONFIRMATION AND ARRIVAL POSTMARKS. Only 3 such covers known. (Image)
