1694 LETTER & 1774 "PENNY POST/NOT PAID": 16 Dec. 1774 EL/wrapper from Aberdeen to London having a fair small double circular "PENNY POST/NOT PAID" On the reverse, Bishop marks for "[2]3/DE" & "24/DE" plus small circular "9/O'CLOCK" marks. Contents ref "By a letter from Mr. Charles Gordon at Canton in China, he desires I would send what letters I wrote him to your care....". The other item in the lot is a single sheet (no postal markings) from Mr. John Uppcott to Mr. Tristam Furlong, both of 'Tyverton' and dated 1694. ACCUMULATION in 2 albums and a stockbook of covers and postmarks on piece inc. an early E from Bracebridge to Horncastle with a fine "8/OC" Bishop's mark, an 1815 EL with a "NOTTINGHAM/124" mileage mark endorsed "...inclosing [sic] latter part 20 £ note", plus PPCs with various Nottingham postmarks, an album containing mainly pre-stamp ELs, Es & envs. from a variety of locations with various part name stamps & rate markings, and a 16 page stockbook full of 1950s-70s slogan postmarks.
