image France, Selection of 18th & 19th Century Covers, 58 by our count, mostly folded letters; includes stampless (six 18th century, 12 19th century) as well as 36 Cérès-franked covers with a variety of large numeral cancels; note also four Telegraph cards (carte-télégramme) with Seated France indicia; uses are both domestic and foreign, the items with numerous postal markings and company handstamps as well; remarkably fresh for their age, Fine to Very Fine with better. image France, Superb One-Frame Pneumatic Post Exhibit Collection, 1879-1901, comprising 37 stationery cards illustrating the history of this "subterranean airmail" service unique to Paris, commencing with 1879 (Sept. 19) specially prepared 50c pneumatic postal stationery card for the original 50c rate which was in effect for the first year only, two rare examples of authorized usages of normal postal stationery cards through the pneumatic post with 1899 10c card uprated with Sage 5c and 10c to pay the 30c pneumatic post rate (2004 Roumet certificate) and 1901 10c card uprated with Mouchon 10c vertical pair, and then there is a wide range of usages of the specially printed cards, including "BM" (Boite Mobile) handstamp on 1894 card which was then placed in the tube system, and authorized 1888-94 usages (2) of the pneumatic postal stationery cards outside the system with 1888 30c card to Boulogne bearing Postage Due 30c and 1894 30c card to Germany inadvertently placed in the pneumatic box but sent through the mails; also more than 30 additional unused or used cards not mounted in the exhibit, Fine to Very Fine, an outstanding study.
