image 1882-1900 1d rose to rose-red "History of the Plates and Die-States" colln on 167 pages, a specialised mainly used study originally formed by Ken McNaught. Incl plate proofs (pair in issued colour & many reprinted in black), issues studied in date order with strength in p12 x 11½ & incl an impressive range of setenant pairs of die states, flaws, varieties etc. Of particular interest to the specialist (many 100s). image 1895 ½d p12 x 11½ original issue seln corner mint pair, with sheet No proving the paper was received by Government Printer on 28 March 1895. The ½d stamps were issued on 1 April. Also 2 singles in diff shades with early use in Wellington on 2 AP 9(5) & 22 AP 95. Two blocks of four, 1 a top right corner block, both MUH. Used horiz block of 6, 1 with defect otherwise FU. An unusually large multiple of this short-lived stamp. CP D1a. Cat $3940. (Image)
