Excellent condition; c.1930 A5 size promotional leaflet for Blue Air Mail Boxes and where to find them. Also, a most unusual Air France "Around the World" flight cover. Initially posted on 16 Oct. 1937 at the Paris Tourism Exhibition, then onwards via Brazil ( 21 Oct.), USA (25 Oct.), Hong Kong (11 Nov.) and back to Paris (22 Nov) with relevant cancels acquired en route. image ALAN COBHAM FLIGHTS - SIGNED CARD, ETC: Group of cards/covers incl. 1925-26 special souvenir card issued by aeronautical magazine "Flight", inscribed Imperial Airways Survey Flight London-Capetown. Special vignette cancelled with the oval cachet "SPECIAL AIR MAIL/16-11-25/LONDON" in violet, and posted on arrival in Capetown 23 Feb. 1926 with KGV 2d franking. Signed by Cobham on reverse. Also, a cover from Calcutta-Karachi dated 18 Feb. 1925 carried on the 20 Nov. 1924 to 17 Mar. 1925 London-Rangoon-London Survey Flight and engineer-signed (AB Elliot) cover from the Calcutta-London leg of the flight 18 Feb.-17 Mar. 1925; c.20 Jul. 1926 cover carried on the Karachi-Calcutta leg of the 30 Jun.-15 Aug. 1926 London-Melbourne flight. It was on this flight that engineer Elliot was shot and killed over Iraq. Lot also incl. 12 Feb. 1925 cover from Liverpool to Durban, flown on the Capetown-Durban route on 2 Mar. 1925 (one of 260 items of mail carried) and an original brochure/timetable advertising the route. "This is the biplane we saw go up today", "I have had a fair time here seeing the Flying men " and "We have seen some splendid flying ". 10 Aug 1910 card card from Lanark to Wales "Here today seeing the flying. Wish some of them would take me up, I might be nearer heaven than I may ever get". 1910 (1st & 7th Aug.) PC (2) from the 2nd Blackpool meeting. Also 20th Aug 1910 Press ticket for Blackpool Flying Carnival. An official programme of the 1910 Lanark Meeting with some interesting advertisements and details of the meeting. image 1912 "DAILY MAIL" CIRCUIT OF BRITAIN GUSTAV HAMEL FLOWN CARD: PPC (photo of W.H.Ewen and his 60 H.P. Caudron Bi-plane) flown by Gustav Hamel and having the relevant large, violet cachet "CARRIED BY/ G. Hamel/DAILY MAIL/AIRMAN". Card is addressed to Congleton and bears a halfpenny green adhesive cancelled by Middlesborough 29 Jul. 1912 c.d.s. The card was originally to have been flown by W.H. Ewen at a fair in Warrington, who had trouble with his plane whilst flying north. He was replaced by Hamel who carried mail on several flights to be posted at Middlesborough. Message on card reads "Dear Aunt Ellen. As you can see I am sending you this by aeroplane". Lot also includes an unused PPC showing Mr Hamel by his plane, and a Jun. 1914 PPC posted at Stoke with message re Longton Park fete, the sender stating "...the flying was very good. Saw him loop the loop & fly upside down." (3 cards) (Image)
