However, the existence of an unwatermarked card postmarked June 4, 1873 means that it is likely that some of the unwatermarked normal color proofs produced in early April, prior to the paper being calendered for the large watermark dandy roll, were accidentally distributed into postal channels and used much like the Full Face McKinley cards would be 29 years later.-+ (Image)

1873 1c Postal Card Collection, binder filled with mint and used examples of both S1 and S2, we note S1 mint, S1a used, watermark varieties including S2c, S2d, S2e, and S2i used, "big hole" varieties, early Boston Leavitt cancel (April 14, 1876), advertising including some very attractive illustrated designs, uprated cards to Germany and Canada, and much more, condition F-VF throughout, viewing a necessity as there is certainly much more research to be done on this lot, ideal for the specialist in the first US postal card
