image GREAT BRITAIN, Mulready Caricatures, Hablot Knight Browne ("Phiz") Broadside Design. on thick paper, 390x280mm (design 363x256mm), shows various scenes of the period mimicking a Mulready, humorous design in each section including the elephant at top right wearing a top hat, main central figure as an overweight lady with a poodle below reading a newspaper and two hills in the background labeled "Rowland Hill" and "Lesser Hill", bottom imprint "Published by Chapman & Hall, 186 Strand, 1840", some small faults primarily along the edges incl bottom left corner clipped and some aging stains, Fine appearance, only twelve have been recorded by Dr. Richard Hobbs and Robin Cassell, about half of which are hand-colored (Image)

image GREAT BRITAIN, Mulready Caricatures, Thackeray Lithograph, from the original plate on india paper mounted on card, 257x230mm (design 125x108mm), minor imperfections incl some tone spots, Fine and attractivernAccording to Bodily, Jarvis, and Hahn, the origin of Thackery's is more anecdotal than fact and legend has it that that he drew the original design on the back of a menu. Mr. Tregaskis of Holborn produced a line block and either 100 or 120 copies were printed onto india paper. The block was later defaced and examples were printed on laid paper. (Image)
