(Town & County) Port Tiburon, Marin Co. Cal., Jul 22, 1887 (Marin). Intensely bold cds and target duplex (MRN-3160, R5) on 1885, 2¢ Grant letter sheet to San Francisco; some light staining, a Superb strike, the only recorded example of the "Point Tiburon" postmark, ex-Polland. Estimate; $250 - 350.
This was Tiburon's first handstamp postmark and the only one with the "Point" designation. It was an unofficial locative name used by the postmaster.
