Estimate; $150 - 200.

On 12 July 1942, Germany formed the "Frikorps Danmark," a legion of Danish volunteers. The purpose of the Frikorps was to aid in fight against Communist Russia on the Eastern Front. The initial batch or recruits totaled approximately 600 men, and by the end of August 1941, the Frikorps had over 1,000 volunteers.

During the short period in which the Danish Legion was in existence, several propaganda labels were privately produced and sold as a means of fundraising to benefit the legion.

image World War II Propaganda Issues, 1943 6(pf) Heinrich Himmler Forgery. O.g., never hinged, Very Fine and rare, signed Friedl. Michel No. 28II €1,200 ($1,340).
Estimate; $300 - 400.

In 1942-43, the British created this propaganda forgery depicting Heinrich Himmler, Reichsführer of the SS. The stamp design is an imitation of the German Hitler definitives from 1941-44, specifically MiNr. 785.

Two major varieties exist. The first printing (28 II) from December 1942 has narrow lines, poor shading, white splotches on the face, and overall poor quality in the design. The April/May 1943 printing (28 I) has wider lines, and overall a much better, more attractive design. It is also much rarer.

Estimate; $200 - 300.

The British Intelligence produced a skillful propaganda forgery of the Germany 1943 24pf+26pf brown-red Putsch stamp. The forgery shows a portrait of General von Witzleben, instead of that of a storm trooper. An inscription at the top reads 'Gehangt am 8. Aug. 1944', meaning 'Hanged on 8th August 1944'. The forgery was printed in photogravure in sheets of 20 stamps (4x5).
