image Iran Advanced Mint and Used Collection on Minkus Pages, with high completion to about 1950 and continuing to about 1990. Very good showing of the early issues. We noted Scott #120-135 (CV $959), 321, and 336-334 (CV $450), 445 MH (CV $200) and 560-577 (CV $176). Too many other sets would merit mention here, most of the better pages have been scanned. The collector’s knowledge suggests these might be genuine, but sold as is, and still a rare offering which merits close inspection. Very fine throughout. (J.O.) (Image)

image Israel Lovely Mint Collection in an Elbe Album with Slip Case, 1949 to 1963, the collection is mostly made up of plate blocks (including matched sets), blocks, tab singles and pairs, a tête-bêche block, a few booklets, varieties, plus souvenir sheets. Too many better items to list, rather we have scanned 11 of the 28 pages online for your viewing pleasure. All very fine and fresh, majority is never hinged but we a quick inspection revealed light hinge marks in some sheet margins. Bale catalogue value is an owner's older one. Rsv. $400. (Image)

The three stockbooks contain a clean stock of mostly tabbed NH issues from 1949 to 2000s, with 1 to 10 of each, plus many souvenir sheets, etc. Owner's Scott catalogue value for the stockbooks alone is $1,800. image Italian Colonies and Aegean Islands Mostly Used Collection in a Minkus Album with Pages to 2008, left intact and includes better areas such as Eritrea ($7,700), Rhodes ($940), Somalia ($1,100), Tripolitania ($4,370). The 2015 Scott total catalogue value of over $16,000 is for mainly used, with a handful of mint, Many of the better sets may have fraudulent cancels or overprints and should be expertised, but we have uploaded many scans online. Nevertheless, there are hundreds of genuine stamps, which makes our estimate reasonable. A very clean collection, with mostly nice and clean postmarks and overall fine to very fine. (J.O.) (Image)

image Italy Mostly Used Comprehensive Collection in a Minkus Album with Pages to 2008, left intact and running from #s 17 to 2305. The total catalogue value includes Italian States ($11,400), Italy proper ($33,000), Fiume ($3,800), Trieste ($1,100), Occupation, P.O. Abroad, etc. Italy itself is over 95% complete for the issues up to 1999. Better issues abound, unfortunately Italian issues are known for faked postmarks, so we have uploaded many scans online - the collector was very knowledgeable in this area, so there are good chances the postmarks might be good. Some of the questionable items might be #s 165-69, 232-38, 280-89, 305, 359-66, 574, B20-38, C4-9, C25-26, C28-33, D1-14, etc, but there are hundreds of others that look legitimate, including 119-25, 469-92, 514-46, 575-96, C100-05, C127-28, etc. A quite beautiful collection, with mostly nice and clean postmarks and overall fine to very fine. The Scott 2015 catalogue value is $52,000. (J.O.) (Image)

image Japan Mint and Used Accumulation to about 1990 with Low Duplication, a great stock of this popular country in a Lindner album. Stamps appear to be in Scott sequence and thus easy to identify. Good coverage of the definitives, commemoratives, souvenir sheets and back-of-the-book issues both in the mint and the used sections. Most mint stamps are NH from 1950 on and MH for earlier issues. Also noted some se-tenant pairs and blocks. Many thousands of stamps in this large stock album with a corresponding huge catalogue value. Great basis for a parallel mint and used collection or stock for a show or internet dealer. Fine-very fine. (Image)

image Latin America Extensive Mostly Used Collection in Six Thick Minkus Albums, very strong in 19th Century and to about 1995 for many countries, including for back-of-the-book items. The collection is mainly used stamps but some mint hinged items are present in most countries. Brazil is the most important collection of this lot with many valuable items such as Scott #1-3 (CV $2,125), 40 (CV $160), 44 (CV$ 190), 45 (CV $925), 49 (CV $850) and 96-8 (CV $221) to name a few. We also noted Bolivia 1868 used 500c Coat of Arms - 9 stars, Scott #14, unobtrusive cancel, very fine; the provincial issue for Antioquia (Colombia) Scott #3 (CV $1,000), Guatemala Scott #4 (*) (CV $325), Mexico Scott #89 (CV $250), 703 (CV $150), Venezuela Scott #9 (CV $400) and much more. Detailed examination of papers, perforations, watermarks and overprints should certainly be rewarding. Each album comes with a glassine holding hundreds of the collector’s doubles, not all of these are common. A very large collection with many thousands of stamps. Faults noted on some earlier material; stamps placed upside down are to be considered space fillers. Otherwise fine - very fine. See numerous scans online. (J. O.) (Image)

The collection appears to be about 90% complete in period, missing some stamps / sets in the first years, then becoming more complete as the years progress, including souvenir sheets, back of the book, etc. There are many expensive stamps / sets throughout, see our scans for an idea. image Luxembourg Group of Early Used Issues, 1852-1881, housed on a stock page and album pages (the album pages don't match the stamps). The collection starts off strong with a page of #1 (x33, $1,815), #2 (x20, $1,500), and the rest are an assortment of the second design issues, with imperforate, rouletted and perforated issues. The overall quality is quite nice, and we have catalogued as cheapest shades only, even though there is an apparent wide range of shades present, not to mention the many town c.d.s. cancels. A nice lot, for which every page is scanned online. (J.O.) (Image)
