image 1932.MAR.23 American Flight Croydon to Hong Kong, Calcutta to Rangoon Leg, franked on back, with "Time is Money / Use Air Mail / To Ensure it" label, tied by two small "American Flier" handstamps. Also a "Give your letters wings" label and 4-line violet cachet explaining the flight, plus Pilot's signature Smith Reynolds. Back shows MAR.24 Rangoon and MAR.28 Calcutta datestamps alongside Stephen Smith signature. Very fine. On his JUL.6 return home to Salem Mass. after the flight, the pilot was shot dead. Very rare with only 8 covers flown. (Image)

image 1932.MAR.26 First Official Extension Jodhpur to Falna, received at Falna on MAR.26, with typed red cachet reading "Via First Air Mail / Jodhpur to Falna". Stephen Smith signature on back, very fine. Mr. Pont qualifies the number of items carried as "limited" and his collection includes a clipping indicating that due to the "little or no notice being intimated of this Air Route, covers carried on the First Flight are extremely scarce". image 1932.OCT.15-18 Madras to Karachi and Back, From Croydon, England First Flight Set, includes all 4 legs of the Karachi to Madras (15 OCT) and all 4 legs of the Madras to Karachi (18 OCT), to and from Ahmedabad, Bombay, Bellary and Madras, to and from Croydon England. These all with Union Jack design. Three more covers are included without Union Jack flag, all from Croydon, England to Bellary, Madras and Ahmedabad. These colourful covers were designed by Stephen Smith "by Sanction of Messrs. Tata Sons Ltd" with inscription on back reading "A Souvenir of a Great Indian Enterprise" and signed by Stephen Smith. The cover design was originally submitted with a Union Jack, which proved to be less than popular, so most of the stock was destroyed. Those that remained were meant for foreign collectors, and those without the flag for Indian collectors. All of these are addressed to Mr. Pont, in Bengal, India. Some have staining or small faults (mostly on back), still overall fine and a rare offering. Scans only show two of the 11 covers offered here. (Image)

Hébert signature (pencil note on back indicates "8 carried"). Second is a cover mailed Calcutta NOV.15, with red typed "French Canadian By Round the World Flight D.H. Gipay Moth, CF-ADC. / Pilot M. Hebert. / Abberville - Calcutta" plus two purple biplane handstamps and Pilot's signature. Pencil note on back indicates "5 carried".
