HINGHAM a very fine (80%) despatch strike A / OC 13 / 94 (with inverted month) on a cover to Wymondham. Back has three c.d.s. datestamps: Hingham OC 13, Norwich OC 13 and Wymondham OC 13. The Handbook attributed a rarity factor of 500 to this hammer stating "This office is listed by Stitt Dibden, but no copies have been recorded.". The 2nd Supplement recorded a strike dated MY 11 / 96, but it is unknown as to whether it is on a cover, or stamp. The 4th Supplement lists this strike. Nevertheless, one of the rarest squared circle towns on a very fine cover and one of only two strikes known by us. (Image)
