THE EXTREMELY RARE MIXED FRANKING COVER WITH RUSSIA
1876 First Portrait 5ch. rose and black, postal stationery envelope, dated approximately on the 1st of January 1877, addressed from Tehran to Linz, Austria, cancelled by indistinct TEHRAN cds, used in combination with Russia Arms 8k applied in transit to pay the onward fee from Tabriz to Linz, as Persia was not the part of the UPU until September 1877, the addressee was a Post Office Official in Linz, the reverse shows a wide array of transit and arrival mkgs, an important item of Persia postal history, a showpiece (Image)
