image 1842 "Turks Islands" manuscript marking on folded cover to London, rated "4" and "1/-", showing on reverse the manuscript marking of origin and arrival c.d.s. for 28 May; ex-Ludington.In January 1842 the R.M.S.P.Co. established a bimonthly West Indies mail service using Grand Turk as the distribution point for its branch services. This service was discontinued in October of the same year because of the generally unsuitable conditions in the anchorage. No post office was opened in Grand Turk until December 11, 1854. The manuscript markings were written on packet letters in transit and sorted at Grand Turk. (Image)

image Turks and Caicos mainly used collection balance, an advanced assembly where duplicates and shades are usually encountered, mounted on album pages and gathered in an Oriel album, commencing with the first issue, the second one also including multiples for the 1d, a quite attractive section of 1881 surcharges, accompanied by one certificate, with 33 examples, part of them being not genuine, later Q.V. issues with multiples with unusual blocks of four or larger, including "Specimen" stamps from 1889, 1893 ½d on 4d with 11 examples including one in combination with other issue on piece, sets of Specimen in the 1900-04, 1909-11, 1913-18 and 1922-26 issues, 1928 10 blue plate proofs, etc; predominantly very fine, detailed viewing required.
