Pkt. '3' Dec 3, 1859" credit exchange cds, carried by Allan Line Bohemian from Portland Dec. 3rd to Liverpool arriving Dec. 15th, red London Paid (12.16) transit cds, Henley on Thames (12.17) arrival backstamp; pair hinged in place, Fine and rare transatlantic use from Kansas Territory via Portland Packet, This was the maiden return voyage of the Allan Line "Bohemian".

Gold was discovered in Georgia in 1828, and the town of Auraria was named in 1833. In 1857 a group of Aurarians called the "Russell Boys" traveled to the Pikes Peak region to seek gold, which they discovered in the sands of Cherry Creek in February 1858. This soon gave birth to a town which they named Auraria in honor of their Georgia home. Council Bluffs, Iowa is approximately 540 miles east of Auraria.

Cover from Great Britain to Cleveland, O. with partial "Mr 4, 86" duplex postmarks and spots where tied stamps has been washed off, reverse with printed label reading "P.O., New York, N.Y., July 6th, 1886., This piece is a portion of the mail forwarded from Queenstown, Ireland, per steamer OREGON on March 7th, and damaged by the sinking of that vessel off Fire Island on March 14th. Recovered from the wreck July 1-4. Henry G. Pearson, Postmaster." which is tied by Cleveland O. receiving postmark, Fine and scarce, with only five recorded examples from this wreck.
