#2, 1862 5c Black, showing small red crayon cancel, used on folded cover to Granada, docketed on back from Rivas on June 26, 1863, with manuscript "2c" alongside, fine; the 5c adhesive paid the internal rate as stipulated by the postal administration in June 1862, the 2c rate is not mentioned despite the issue of a 2c stamp, but this has been stated to be a possible carrier fee ("Nicarao" Vol. 3 No. 1); this is one of the scarcest first issues of any country used on cover, with only four examples recorded, this exhibiting a unique franking and, of even more significance, representing the earliest usage recorded; the significance of this issue on cover is additionally enhanced by the fact of Nicaragua being the first country in Central America to issue stamps; 2010 Moorhouse certificate.
