An interesting group of 14 stamps written-up on early quadrille pages from the Chapman collection; includes 3 "used" Chalco 2r black on green and an 1867 stamp invoice, Chihuahua (three different), Tlaxcala 1867 ½r black on rose, Zacatecas 2r black on gray blue tied on piece, Queretaro 1867 2r red unused and used on piece and Puebla 1867 black on blue gray 1r, 2r, 4r & 8r (all believed to be either fantasies or forgeries).

image Mexico, Puebla Bars & X's On Large Numeral Stamps - Railroad Usage. These stamps (over 60, mostly brown lilac 10c large numeral) are the only known ones with these cancels, in collaboration with Karl Schimmer the railroad route was plotted to show that these were canceled, apparently in conjunction with the railroad, some of these cancels appear with Puebla District town cancels for Amozoc, Cholula, Huexotzingo, Puebla, San Juan de los Llanos, San Martin Texmelucan, Tecali, Tehuacan, Tepeji de la Seda, Teteles, Tezuitlan, Zacapoaxtla, and the railroad itself, Ferrocarril Mexicano Ramal-Puebla Conductor No. 1, and 2; and Mexico, D. F., reference copy of the October 2001 article published in Mexicana is included with the lot, this archive was previously owned by a Puebla lawyer.
